Help my timeline is blank!

Do NOT panic. Mastodon does not use ANY algorithms. Your timeline will be blank until you start following people and hashtags.

I followed hashtags/people, my timeline is still blank!

Again, do NOT panic. The federated nature of mastodon means you only see information once it is pushed to you. This means after you Follow A Hashtag, you will not see any posts until new posts with that hashtag are made.

Best Way To Curate You're Timeline

Getting a good timeline takes a bit more work on Mastodon than on corporate social media. This is because there are no algorithms and no suggestions are made to you.

The fastest way to start seeing what you like is to start following hashtags. This will then allow you to see posts from people you may like, and once you decided you like a person's posts, you follow that person.

It does take a little work, but you will find you will end up with a timeline of information you like and interactions with awesome people.
